I've been tracing my family tree for about 4 years now and through the internet I have been able to expertly document my "Distler" surname back to the 14th Century in a part of Germany that is in modern day Northern Bavaria.  My family comes from a part of Germany that was once known as Franconia or Franken.  In particular Upper Franken.  The Distler surname can be traced to its earliest written documentation to a small village called Unterleinleiter.  In fact my 11th cousin's wife still resides in this village.  In researching my family name I ran across another "Distler" researcher named Alan "David" Distler.  David has been featured in Time Magazine and most recently in Reader's Digest Concerning his family history research.  David and I have compiled notes, along with several other Distler researchers to form an 1100 plus gedcom file.  You may also wish to view my gedcom file by choosing the icon below.
